Today I’m continuing work on the VS-808PP rear spar doubler. I began with countersinking the holes near the bottom of the forward face of the doubler. The reason for this is because the forward side of the VS-803PP spar is dimpled where it mates to the fuselage. With the VS-803PP dimpled, the VS-808PP doubler needs to be countersunk to sit flush against the spar.
In the picture below I countersunk my first hole and am checking to make sure that the hole depth is set properly.
This photo shows all the hole with completed countersinking.
Vertical Fin hinge brackets
In the photo below I have the complete sets of the hinge brackets that mount to the aft side of the vertical fin rear spar. To make sure I keep these in the correct orientation after match drilling in place, I have identified the upper and lower segments.
In the photo below I have the hinge brackets located and clecoed in place. I have also drilled all the pilot holes in VS-803PP mating to VS-808PP to #30 which is the final size.
The vertical fin rear spar assembly has all standard drilling and fitting accomplished, but its not finished yet. There are still a few F1 Rocket mods needed to be accomplished.
Please comment, I love to hear from my readers. Thanks again for coming along for this ride, you make my work worthwhile.
